Following the base closure announcements made last January regarding
Rouyn-Noranda (YUY), Bagotville (YBG), and Sept-Îles (YZV), we have an important update regarding the transition timeline.
Last week, Jazz Aviation reached out to the Union to discuss an urgent request from Air Canada. Due to delays in aircraft deliveries to PAL Airlines, Jazz has been asked to extend operations at certain locations.
Extension of Operations: YUY & YBG
- Air Canada has requested that Jazz continue operating scheduled flights for Rouyn-Noranda (YUY) and Bagotville (YBG) for an interim period.
- Duration: The exact length of this extension is currently unknown.
- Operational Impact: Jazz Aviation will continue to handle these flights until the transition to PAL can be completed.
Impact on Members & Your Rights
The Union is actively working with the Company to address outstanding issues resulting from this sudden change. Our priority is ensuring your rights and previous decisions are protected.
Respecting Your Choices: The Union and Jazz have agreed that any employee who wishes to make the choices they expressed in their original termination letter will have those choices fully respected.
Note for Sept-Îles (YZV) Employees: Please be advised that this operational extension does not apply to Sept-Îles. The notifications of base closure or termination for YZV remain unchanged. This update strictly affects YUY and YBG.
We understand that this adds a layer of uncertainty to an already difficult transition. We are committed to providing you with clear answers as soon as the Company provides more specific timelines. Your bargaining committee is committed to navigating this difficult transition with you and ensuring your rights are fully protected.
In solidarity,
Your Unifor bargaining committee
