Jazz CSA/ACS bargaining committee makes progress as we head into New Year

December 22, 2016 at 9:48 AM

Your bargaining committee, along with Unifor National Representative Liz Marzari, Local 2002 President Cheryl Robinson and Assistant to the Local President Josee Genois met with the company in Vancouver on December 13 for a mediation/arbitration with Arbitrator Tom Hodges.

Over the past few months, numerous grievances have been heard and some settlements have been reached, allowing us to significantly reduce the number of outstanding grievances. We have secured a further date with Arbitrator Hodges on January 27, 2016, to hear the outstanding grievance in relation to our scope work at Billy Bishop (Toronto Island) Airport.

On Wednesday, December 14th, as a result of positive progress being made in regards to outstanding grievances, as well as timelines pertaining to bargaining, Liz Marzari served Jazz notice to bargain.  It was requested that the company provide their availability to begin the bargaining process.

We are encouraged with the progress that has been made over the past few months, and will continue to work towards resolving outstanding issues as we head in to bargaining in 2017.

The committee is determined to keep you informed through regular communications via our website and e-news; we will continue to issue bulletins monthly and then weekly once bargaining actively begins. If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to your regional bargaining representative.

On behalf of the entire bargaining committee, we wish all of our members’ happy holidays, good health and prosperity in the New Year.

In solidarity,
