INTRODUCTION

Our Local 2002 triennial convention will be held May 26-29, 2014 at the Unifor Education Centre in Port Elgin, Ontario. Delegates are chosen in accordance with the bylaws and are based on the number of active members in each district as of December 31, 2013.

As per the bylaws of Local 2002:
"The primary function of the convention is to receive a detailed accounting from the Executive Board of the conduct of the business and affairs of the Local Union for the preceding three years."

Two additional functions at convention are bylaw resolutions and elections of certain positions as laid out in the bylaws.

Bylaws are the firm rules and regulations that govern how our local is run.
The delegates of convention, who are "the supreme governing body" of our local will come together to discuss, debate and vote on local bylaw resolutions (submitted from districts, the executive board, trustees and local committees).

Elections will take place and be voted on by convention delegates at convention.


NOTICE OF WRIT FOR ELECTION

This notice is to advise all members of Unifor Local 2002 that, in accordance with the Bylaws of Unifor Local 2002, an election will take place for the above-mentioned position(s).

The term of office for all elected officers of Unifor Local 2002, except for bargaining committees, is three (3) years and begins on the first day of the month following the election (Bylaws, Article 4.7.03, 4.8.02 & 4.13.01).

Any member in good standing may run for election for the position by submitting a completed nomination form to the Unifor Local 2002 office via:

Candidates may submit a Statement of Qualifications. Read the Guidelines for Candidates for details.

Nominations must be received no later than 12:00 pm EST on 21 April 2014. Nominees MUST confirm that the nomination was received by calling the Local’s office:

All candidates shall be able to withdraw their nomination 72 hours prior to printing of ballots as per Bylaw 4.1.13. Ballots will be printed 7 days after close of nominations: 28 April 2014.
