We’ve been informed by our union siblings at the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) that their unionized staff are currently facing industrial action in response to a deepening financial crisis. The ITF Executive has announced plans, without prior consultation with their unionized staff, to cut 25% of staff, with others facing dismissal and rehire under significantly lessened contract terms.
In a recent strike vote, there was an 89% membership turnout—an overwhelming 89% voted in favour of taking strike action.
Our ITF colleagues have asked for our solidarity. We are calling on you to help rally support and raise awareness of their struggle. Please stand with ITF staff in defending fair treatment and decent work.
