On February 29, 2020, join your union, Unifor Local 2002, in raising awareness about International Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) day.  RSI day is February 29th because it’s the only non-repetitive day of the year. We observe the day on February 28th in non-leap years. Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) refers to a category of injuries involving damage to muscles, tendons, and nerves caused by overuse or misuse.

The Workers Health & Safety Centre reports that 2.3 million Canadian adults are annually affected by RSIs or MSDs, with the majority of cases being work-related. The social and economic costs of such cases exceed $26 billion annually.   RSI is among the most common types of workplace injuries and these disorders can be caused by work activities that are frequent and repetitive or activities with awkward postures. They are a serious occupational health concern across the world and are recognized as leading causes of significant human suffering.

As union activists and health and safety advocates, our members are on the front lines of pushing for better, safer work environments.  Unifor is committed to promoting injury prevention and raise awareness about the prevalence of Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSIs) and their effects.

Help us put an end to workplace injury:
In solidarity,
