Dear Lana,
Solidarity: Delta Air Lines Endeavour flight 4819
On behalf of the International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF), we extend our solidarity to Unifor and its members in the aftermath of the Delta Air Lines Endeavour Flight 4819 accident in Toronto.
The ITF recognizes all workers who responded to the accident across YYZ, from the first responders present at the scene, to the airport, ground-workers who had to respond in its aftermath by managing diversions, cancellations and other disruptions to the airport's activity.
Regrettable moments such as these, though rare, highlight the coordination and complexity in workers' roles across the aviation ecosystem, transporting millions of passengers safely every day. We extend gratitude to your members and all aviation workers who together ensure the passengers, and the wider industry were safe in the aftermath of this incident.
Our industry has seen too many incidents recently. We reaffirm our commitment to working with unions across the world in improving employment standards in the aviation industry and thus improving travelling conditions for the public.
In solidarity,
(signed)
