Message from Jerry Dias: British Columbia Floods Appeal

Dear members,

By now you’ve no doubt seen the flooding devastation in British Columbia’s Fraser River Valley outside of Vancouver. Billions of dollars of damage has already been done and the forecast is calling for more heavy rain in the coming days.

These regions were just starting to recover from the pandemic. The floods will set tens of thousands of families back, potentially for years.

Unifor is taking action because our union’s social justice work doesn’t stop in the workplace. Our members want to be a part of community support and social solidarity.

The Unifor B.C. Regional Council and the Social Justice Fund have donated a combined $60,000 to the Canadian Red Cross.

Individuals and local unions have been contacting the national and regional office about what role they can play in aiding the thousands of families who have been displaced. We’re pleased to inform you that the Red Cross has created an online for Unifor members to donate:

Please consider making a donation and sharing this information with the B.C. Regional Office.

In solidarity,

Jerry Dias
National President
