Dear Local 2002 Members,

Today – December 6th – marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. It is a day for all of us to reflect on the tragic events that occurred in Montréal at École Polytechnique in 1989, where 14 women lost their lives to gender-based violence. It is also a day for us to stand united in our commitment to end violence against women in all its forms.

As we remember the lives lost, we also recognize the countless women and girls who continue to face violence and inequality. This issue transcends borders, workplaces, and communities, affecting individuals regardless of background.

Unifor Local 2002 is committed to fostering safe and equitable environments for all. Let this day serve as a reminder of our collective responsibility to challenge harmful behaviors, support survivors, and advocate for meaningful change. Together, we can build a culture of respect, understanding, and safety within our workplaces and beyond.

I encourage all of us to take a moment to honor the lives of those we have lost and to recommit ourselves to creating a world free of violence.

We will always remember:
