Open letter to all members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada

Dear Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada,

I am writing to express our full support and solidarity with you as you engage in strike action across Canada. As members of Unifor Local 2002, we know how difficult it can be to stand up for fair wages, benefits, and working conditions. Additionally, we also know how important it is to fight for these things, not just for ourselves, but for future generations of workers.

Unifor members and executive officers understand that your strike is a response to the government's failure to negotiate a fair collective agreement for PSAC members. We also know that your work is essential to many institutions and departments within Canada. You deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.

Unifor Local 2002 stands with you in your struggle for fair wages, benefits, and working conditions, and we support your demands for a wage increase that keeps up with the cost of living, better job security, and improvements to your working conditions. We also recognize that remote work has become a part of everyday life in many of our workplaces.

As a Local part of Canada’s largest private sector union, Unifor understands that you are fighting not just for yourselves, but for all workers in Canada. We call on the government to listen to your demands and negotiate an offer that addresses your concerns. Workers cannot wait any longer. Families cannot wait any longer. It’s time to reach a settlement that addresses the demands of these highly skilled employees.

In the coming days, we will be communicating directly with our membership and encouraging them to join you in your strike by boycotting any scab services and showing solidarity in any way possible.

In solidarity,

Tammy Moore, President
Unifor Local 2002
