To all Unifor 2002 Members: Personnel changes

In mid-April Air Canada began the process to implement Early Retirement Incentive Packages (ERIP) in order to mitigate layoffs as stipulated in the Group Termination provisions of the Canadian Labour Code. Although this is an Air Canada initiative, the result has had an impact on several Unifor 2002 elected and appointed positions.
  

LOCAL PRESIDENT

There is a vacancy in the office of the President that will be filled in accordance with the bylaws by posting nominations for the position on July 5, 2021.

ASSISTANT TO THE LOCAL PRESIDENT

Ashley Watkins will be retiring on July 31, 2021. The position has been posted and is currently in the interview process.

  

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANT PROGRAM (EAP) COORDINATOR

Charlotte Pape (Vice President, Central Region) has been appointed to take over the EAP Coordinator position which was left vacant June 1, 2021.

  

MOBILIZATION COORDINATOR

Sean Smith will be retiring on July 31, 2021. This position is appointed by the Unifor National President and Lucy Alessio has been selected to take over the position when Sean retires.

  

AIR CANADA DISTRICT ELECTIONS

More than 350 Unifor Local 2002 members were approved to retire via Early Retirement Incentive Packages. This has triggered vacancies in workplace representative positions that are currently in the process of being filled by the elections process.

Vacancies for Central, Eastern and Atlantic Women’s Advocates for Air Canada will be posted shortly.
