Dear Local 2002 Members,
We are excited to announce that we are seeking enthusiastic
young workers to join our Local 2002 Young Workers Committee. This committee plays a crucial role in representing the interests and concerns of our younger members.
As per Article 3, Section 6 of our Local 2002 Bylaws:
"3.6.01 The following may be the Standing Committees of this Local Union:

12. Young Worker
Unifor defines a young worker as a member
who is 35 years old or younger. This committee is established to ensure that the voices of our young members are heard, and their unique perspectives are incorporated into our union's activities and decision-making processes.
Why join the Young Workers Committee?

Make a difference: Help shape policies and initiatives that directly impact young workers in our union.

Develop leadership skills: Gain valuable experience in union activism and advocacy.

Network: Connect with other young workers across our various units and regions.

Learn: Enhance your understanding of labour rights, collective bargaining, and union operations.

Create change: Address issues specific to young workers, such as job security, career development, and work-life balance.
Examples of potential committee activities:
- Organizing youth-focused events and workshops
- Developing mentorship programs
- Advocating for young worker-friendly policies in collective agreements
- Promoting union involvement among younger members
- Collaborating with other union committees on intersectional issues
