Unifor Local 2002: Stand Up Against Bullying on Anti-Bullying Day

February 26, 2025 at 2:44 PM

Dear Members of Unifor Local 2002,

On February 26, let's come together to recognize Anti-Bullying Day by wearing pink. By doing so, we stand with those who have experienced bullying and reaffirm our collective commitment to fostering workplaces and communities that are inclusive, respectful, and safe. Together, we can make a real difference.

The Story Behind Pink Shirt Day
In 2007, students in Nova Scotia stood up for a classmate who was bullied for wearing pink. That small act of kindness sparked a global movement, showing that when we unite against bullying, we can create lasting change.

Let’s Take Action on February 26
We encourage all members of Unifor Local 2002 to wear pink as a symbol of our values:
  • Kindness over cruelty
  • Unity over division
  • Respect over discrimination
Bullying isn’t just a childhood issue—it happens in workplaces, online, and throughout our communities. Its impact is often devastating, particularly for marginalized groups. By standing together, we can challenge harmful behaviors and create safer, more inclusive spaces.

Solidarity in Action
Unifor Local 2002 members are making a difference every day by:
  • Speaking out against bullying and discrimination.
  • Building inclusive, welcoming workplaces.
  • Fighting for fairness and equity.
  • Encouraging open conversations to challenge harmful behaviors and promote understanding.
We also recognize that bullying and division are sometimes used by those in power to distract from the real issues facing workers and communities. But history has shown that when we stand together, we achieve meaningful victories.

Join Us in Sending a Powerful Message
This Anti-Bullying Day, let’s make it clear: bullying has no place here. Wearing pink is more than a gesture—it’s a commitment to creating spaces where everyone feels safe, valued, and respected.

Share your stories and pictures with us on social media. Send your pictures to [email protected] or tweet them using #Pinkshirt2002. We will post them to recognize your commitment to a bully-free workplace.

Let’s take a stand together. On February 26, wear pink and help build a world where everyone belongs.

In solidarity,
Tammy Moore
