Unifor concludes first week of negotiations with Nasittuq Corporation

February 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM

The Unifor Bargaining Committee met with Nasittuq management this week in Belleville, Ontario where they officially opened 2024 bargaining.

Unifor Local 2002 President, Tammy Moore and Financial Secretary Treasurer Charlotte Pape, joined the Committee on opening day. Discussions were productive with the union and employer exchanging non-monetary proposals.

At the conclusion of todays’ talks, the parties agreed to reconvene in March to continue discussions in hopes of reaching a new contract for the membership. Until such time, the Unifor Committee will meet amongst themselves to review the existing documentation and develop additional proposals.

To reiterate the process from the previous communication, Unifor will not provide specific details of what is discussed at the table in order to maintain the integrity of the bargaining process. However, the Committee will commit to keeping the membership updated with any, and all information that we can share throughout discussions.

The membership’s continued support and solidarity is imperative to the Committee as they continue to be the membership’s voice at the bargaining table. We will continue to focus on accurately conveying priorities and demands in efforts to achieve a tentative agreement that can be brought back to the membership for ratification.

The current collective agreement will expire on May 31, 2024.
