Sisters, Brothers & Siblings,
It has come to our attention that PASS management has been contacting Unifor members in Calgary (YYC) requesting assistance in relation to a "potential large book-off event" involving our Edmonton PASS brothers and sisters.
While the union understands that our members wish to support the operation and assist their employer where possible, we must also remind everyone that Unifor Local 2002 is currently in contract negotiations for our YYC PASS members.
During this time, it is important that we remain mindful of the impact that cross-base staffing requests can have on our collective strength.
Our members in Calgary would not want colleagues from other bases coming into YYC to perform our work in the event of a legal work stoppage. In the same way, we must be cautious about being placed in a position where our efforts could unintentionally undermine the rights or actions of workers at another base.
Maintaining solidarity across all locations is critical, especially during contract negotiations.
If you are contacted regarding this matter or have any questions, please reach out to your Local 2002 leadership.
Thank you for your continued support and solidarity.
In Solidarity,
Tammy Moore – President, Unifor Local 2002
Harold Bateman – Assistant to the Unifor Local 2002 President
