Unifor would like to provide an update regarding several policy grievances that are scheduled to proceed to arbitration in late September 2025.
We want to make it clear that the grievances outlined in this bulletin are not connected to the ongoing collective bargaining process — these are entirely separate matters.
At this time, we have reached verbal settlements on the following grievances:
-
Access to water bottles
-
Change rooms
-
Missed and/or delayed breaks from Summer 2024 – The company has acknowledged this issue, and while improvements were made, we understand there is a growing concern about the same issue(s) reoccurring as we head into Summer 2025
-
Non-Unifor members performing bargaining unit work (four separate grievances)
-
Changes to benefit coverage due to a new insurance provider
In addition, we have successfully settled and signed off on the following grievances:
-
Call-in overtime/shift seniority (Article 17R)
-
Payroll discrepancies – The company has acknowledged that inconsistencies began in April 2024. While the number of discrepancies has significantly decreased, the Union now has a process in place to escalate any outstanding and/or new issues promptly.
The grievance regarding uplifting is scheduled to proceed to arbitration during the week of September 29, 2025.
We have had the opportunity to work with PASS over the past 14 months and have made several efforts to resolve multiple policy grievances prior to reaching Step 4 (Arbitration) of the grievance process. While verbal agreements have been reached on several issues, a formal settlement requires signatures from both parties. Unfortunately, Unifor is still waiting for the employer to sign off on these settlements, despite their previous “verbal” commitments. Until these "verbal agreements" are signed off in writing by both parties, no change can occur.
Unifor remains committed to holding the employer accountable, including putting direct pressure on the Senior Director of Operations to ensure all verbal agreements are formalized in writing and executed.
We will continue to provide updates to the membership as new information becomes available.
For updates regarding individual grievances, please reach out to your District Chairperson.
Work safe. Stay strong.
United we bargain – divided we beg!
