We are writing to inform you that the Union has filed a Policy Grievance regarding the Company’s recent decision to require Flight Attendants to contact Management for approval before trading shifts.
This grievance was filed because the Company abruptly changed a long-standing "past practice" regarding shift trades without consultation or agreement with the Union. We believe this unilateral change is a violation of our established working conditions.
The Path Forward
While the grievance process is a fair mechanism for dispute resolution, it can be lengthy. Should this matter proceed all the way to formal arbitration, the process could take 12 months or longer to reach a final decision.
However, given that we are currently in active negotiations, we remain hopeful that this issue can be resolved more efficiently through the collective bargaining process. We will continue to advocate for a shift trade system that respects the autonomy and flexibility our members rely on.
Please stay tuned for further updates as they become available.
