The current Unifor/Porter Airlines FBO collective agreement will expire on May 26, 2022. As we head into active bargaining, it is imperative to have the engagement and input from all members.
Earlier this month, your Unifor bargaining committee distributed both an electronic and paper version of a bargaining survey to gauge the most important issues to be negotiated in the new contract. The results from the survey will provide the Union a clear mandate and direction as to what components will formulate the new contract.
The next step is to have a MEMBERSHIP PROPOSAL MEETING and discuss final preparations. The purpose of this meeting is to review the results of the bargaining surveys, and allow you – the members – an opportunity to participate and ask any questions. This process is often referred to as the double-check mechanism; a procedure to ensure that the data received from the surveys is consistent with what the membership’s priorities are for the bargaining committee when at the negotiating table.
