Unifor has been made aware that your Employer – SkyLink Express Inc. – was granted protection under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (also known as CCAA) by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Toronto.

The application to the Court was granted on March 11, 2024, and many of you may have received an email on that date. Today, Unifor convened an urgent call with SkyLink On this call, Unifor expressed the expectation that during CCAA proceedings, the interests of employees related to payment of wages and benefits, be respected to their fullest. It was also reiterated that throughout this process, there is an expectation that the Union will be informed and notified of important events and/or particulars in order to best serve the membership. A commitment was made by SkyLink to comply with these expectations. For now, SkyLink Express has advised Unifor that its working conditions and benefits will remain status quo.

Representatives from the SkyLink Express legal team will be submitting a motion to a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice tomorrow – Thursday, March 21, 2024 – at 9:00 am Eastern Time. Additional information may be known once this hearing is completed.

Your Union recognizes the significance of this announcement and appreciates that you may be concerned about future service. When further information is available to the Local, we will keep you updated through additional communications.
