Unifor Local 2002 opened bargaining with the Company – Swissport on March 2, 2023, where both parties exchanged proposals. With little progress being achieved, the bargaining committee decided on March 3
rd to file for Conciliation. The Conciliation Process is a step that must be complied with as outlined in the Canada Labour Code to allow the parties to reach a final solution to Collective Bargaining.
UPDATE ON CONCILIATION BARGAINING
Conciliation was set to expire on Friday, May 12, 2023, however, both parties agreed to extend the conciliation
– until June 09, 2023. The Chief negotiator for the Company informed the Conciliator today that they are not available until early June. We feel that the Company is purposely using stalling tactics, however, the Company has been advised the clock is ticking.
We will keep you informed of any further developments as they occur. In the meantime, we encourage all members to continue to support our bargaining team and to stand together in solidarity.
