Your Bargaining Committee met with the employer on December 15 to continue negotiations. Several points were resolved, and we have come to an agreement on virtually all non-monetary items. The next meeting with the employer is scheduled for January 12, 2016 when we expect to begin discussing the monetary proposals. We will keep you updated as bargaining progresses.
The November 25, 2015 bulletin informed you that the union learned the company had changed the provisions of the group insurance plan for employees --- without consulting the union, which contravenes the Canada Labour Code. Actions such as these cast doubt on the intentions of the company and need to be addressed.
The union filed a formal complaint with the Canada Industrial Relations Board for unfair labour practice. The company must understand that they cannot violate Canadian regulations without repercussions. The union will continue to work towards ensuring our members are treated fairly and that your rights are protected. We will keep you informed during the complaint process.
Thank you for your continued support and solidarity.
Your bargaining committee,
Cheryl Robinson, President, Local 2002
Josée Genois, Assistant to the Local President
Marcel Rondeau, Unifor national Representative
