Negotiations have resumed this week in Vancouver and are slowly moving forward.
The company has given a variety of presentations to the committee with Aeroplan president Kevin O’Brien discussed the general company direction and future plans.
The bargaining committee’s focus is to represent the membership’s needs and concerns at the bargaining table. The membership has made it clear through the survey process, at proposal meetings and discussions with their elected leadership, that there are many ongoing issues in their working environment that need to be addressed.
Aeroplan is a leader in premium loyalty programs and owes the lion’s share of its success to the dedication of the employees that provide excellent customer service. These negotiations are an opportunity for both sides to come together and craft a contract that recognizes the requirements of the workers so that they can continue to do the best job possible to facilitate the success and security of the company.

Due to personal circumstances, one of our committee members may not be able to attend some bargaining dates. Alenka Karkling has been appointed as an alternate member of the Aeroplan bargaining committee.
As per Local 2002 Bylaw 4.14.04: The President may appoint additional members to the Bargaining Committee to reflect the membership’s diversity, in particular the factors of geography, gender, experience, sexual orientation and job functions. Appointed members shall be official members of the committee only during bargaining and shall not have a vote on the Committee.
Alenka has been with Aeroplan for 26 years. She has been involved in the union since 1995 as a vice and acting district chairperson and has served on the health and safety, shift, and pension committees. The committee welcomes Alenka’s experience and dedication.
