CAW members at Air Canada have voted
98.25 per cent in favour of going on strike, if necessary.
The Bargaining Committee would like to thank the leadership and membership of Air Canada, who turned up to vote in record numbers. The CAW represents 3800 members at Air Canada and eighty percent attended strike vote meetings, held across the country from May 13 to 19, 2011. This strong show of solidarity strengthens the bargaining committees’ position at the bargaining table for a fair and equitable collective agreement.
We would also like to thank all of you who participated at several rallies held recently in the east and west. We have got the company and traveling public’s attention, but the job isn’t done yet. There is still a lot of work to do before the strike deadline which is set for midnight on June 13.
There are many more rallies planned across the country.
Plan to participate!
After years of concessions, Air Canada workers are angry and indignant about being asked to give up even more. You have the right to express your opinions in the workplace.
The bargaining committee has heard your message loud and clear and we intend to take it back to the bargaining table on Tuesday, May 24. This is our time to be recognized for our contribution to this airline's success.
This is our time to make progress.
