Dear Members,
Last Friday, the Air Canada Bargaining Committee was formally informed that a revenue contact centre would open in Vancouver. Despite our insistence, the Company has been reluctant to state the creation of this call centre.
The Union had a call with the company on Monday, January 13
th, 2025. The only information that we have been able to secure so far is as follows:
- Existing members will have the opportunity to request a transfer to the Vancouver Reservations office through e-transfer.
- Kindly have your transfers in by Thursday, January 16 at 2359 EST.
- The Company has not committed to an exact number of vacancies for the initial class.
- The first class is set to commence the first week of February 2025
- The initial training should last 12 weeks.
- There might be additional classes following the February class.
- The Company has not clarified their intention or timelines in implementing work from home in Vancouver.
We have expressed our concerns over the short notice and the particulars of this new contact centre. We understand the mixed emotions of excitement and frustration over the limited information we can offer you at this time.
We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue pressuring the company for more transparency.
In Solidarity,
Unifor/Air Canada Bargaining Committee,
Brett Grassam - Central Region
Tracy Rector – Atlantic Region
Ada Zampini – Eastern Region
Marilyne Boettger – Western Region
Soppo Gomez Gnali – Pacific Region & Bargaining Committee Chairperson
Tammy Moore – President, Unifor Local 2002
Frances Galambosy – Unifor National Service Representative, Airline Sector
