EVAS Members: Bargaining Update and Strike Vote Meeting scheduled for April 11, 2019

March 20, 2019 at 4:15 PM
The Bargaining Committee has scheduled a meeting along with a strike mandate vote for Thursday, April 11, 2019, in Gander, NL.  As we have previously communicated, your Bargaining Committee filed for Conciliation on February 8, 2019.

The Union and Company have meetings scheduled with the Conciliation Officer on April 9 to 11, 2019, in Gander, NL. We welcome the assistance of the Conciliator to facilitate further negotiation talks. It’s time to show the Company that our pilots are not satisfied with the substandard wages and work schedules. We want better working conditions and wages.

Why are we having a strike vote?

The collective agreement for EVAS expired on February 4, 2019. Since that time, we have collected data, prepared proposals, and begun bargaining.  The Company has failed to move on the important issues that matter most to our members; wage increases and improved flying schedules.

From the very first exchange of proposals, the Company has set a very aggressive tone and have demonstrated they have no interest in addressing the rampant staffing shortages or improving the working conditions for our pilots. For bargaining to be successful, we need to apply pressure to the Company to ensure they take our proposals seriously and respect the work done by our highly skilled pilots. Your Union is determined to fight hard for your collective needs.

EVAS Mobilization Starts Now!

Our Bargaining Committee needs a unified membership supporting them and to show the Company we are a united front. To win the improvements we deserve, all of us have to stand up and be counted. We cannot stress enough the importance of every member participating in this meeting. This is your opportunity to have your voice heard.
