Following our previous updates on the ongoing arbitration process for the Newfoundland and Labrador base closure, we are providing an additional update on the hearing schedule.
UPDATE ON HEARING SCHEDULE
The production motion, which was previously rescheduled to May 1, 2026, has been rescheduled once again. The motion to produce will now be heard on
June 8, 2026.
While we understand that these repeated delays can be frustrating, please be assured that this time allows all parties to ensure they are fully prepared for the proceedings. Your Bargaining Committee is working diligently to ensure that every necessary piece of evidence is brought forward to protect your rights and interests.
RECAP: WHAT IS A PRODUCTION HEARING?
As a reminder, a production hearing is a vital procedural step in our arbitration. It is a meeting held to resolve disputes over document disclosure.
During this phase, the Union requests specific documents and data from the company that are essential to building our strongest possible case. If the company refuses to provide certain records, Arbitrator Wright will make a formal decision on what must be handed over. This process ensures the Union has all the facts required to represent you effectively during final arguments.
NEXT STEPS
Your Bargaining Committee remains fully committed to challenging the base closure and ensuring the collective agreement is upheld. We will continue to advocate for a fair and transparent process.
We will provide a further update following the June 8th hearing. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
In solidarity,
