ORNGE: Bursaries to be awarded

ORNGE: Bursaries to be awarded

April 9, 2009 at 12:00 AM

Ornge Bargaining Committee members, Chuck Telky and Mike Chad are pleased to announce that two 1000.00 bursaries (one to the north and one to the south) will be awarded to sons/daughters of CAW members in good standing, entering or returning to post secondary education (university, community college, technological institute, teacher’s college, nursing school, etc.) These bursaries are a direct result of an award to the Ornge Paramedics bargaining unit by Arbitrator Martin Teplitsky because ORNGE did not provide uniforms to it's paramedics (as required under the terms of the current Collective Agreement) with the appropriate fit and within a timely fashion.

"$2000.00 paid to the local for a bursary for members children for access to educational opportunities."

Submissions should include;

  • an official application form (attached) and signed by a Local Union Officer
  • letter of recommendation from a teacher, principal or community activist
  • transcript/record of marks

Please note that, unlike many scholarships awarded by other institutions, your grades are only one of several factors that will be considered.

Documents indicating definite acceptance at one of the institutions described above and proof of registration need to be submitted before the scholarship can be awarded.

The Ornge bargaining committee will review the applications and make one award to each district. The decision of the committee is final.

Incomplete applications will not receive consideration. Please submit a completed application to:
