On November 15, 2016 your Unifor bargaining committee resumed negotiations with ORNGE. During this time, both parties mutually agreed upon a process to involve Arbitrator Tom Hodges in order to expedite what has been a long and drawn out set of negotiations.
The Unifor bargaining committee made a commitment to bargain in good faith with ORNGE and has kept this commitment since talks began. With Arbitrator Tom Hodges now involved in the process, any outstanding bargaining items would be forwarded to him to mediate on December 5 and 6. In the event mediation is not successful, remaining issues will be submitted to Arbitrator Hodges for consideration to binding interest arbitration with a decision no later than February 15, 2017.
The Unifor Bargaining committee heard from the members at proposal meetings more than a year ago. Since this time, the committee has been working to advance members’ concerns and reach a fair and equitable agreement with Ornge.
The Unifor ORNGE collective agreement expired on November 1, 2015, however until a new agreement is reached all terms of the current collective agreement remain in force.
