Yesterday, Unifor was advised that the Federal Minister of Labour, having received the notice of dispute under Section 71 of the Canada Labour Code, has appointed Andrew Wright as Conciliation Officer to mediate the proceedings between the parties as outlined by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS).
The notice to file conciliation was submitted by Unifor on September 29, 2025.
Contract talks reached an impasse at the end of September after months of indecision and lack of respect on behalf of the employer. Unfortunately, this dispute – which could have been avoided – may threaten air travel for thousands of passengers moving through Calgary International Airport in the coming months.
Mr. Wright, acting as the Conciliation Officer, will oversee the mediation process as we continue to work toward achieving a fair and equitable collective agreement for the membership at PASS, Calgary Airport.
The appointment of the conciliation officer marks an important step in the collective bargaining process.
