Unifor Local 2002 District 298 is pleased to announce a new Letter of Understanding (LOU) on Ground Assistance shifts, agreed to on January 31, 2025, with Unifor District Leadership. This LOU clarifies the scheduling, bidding, and working conditions for Ground Assistance shifts.
Key Highlights:
- Shift Bidding & Trades: Ground Assistance shifts will be biddable, with required flying days scheduled to maintain currency. Shift trades will follow the same procedures as other assigned shifts.
- Minimum Daily Coverage: At least one Ground Assistance shift will be scheduled per day when flights are operating.
- No Activation to Flight Pairings: Flight Attendants on Ground Assistance duty will not be reassigned to cover flight pairings.
- Unbid & Vacant Shifts: Unbid shifts will be assigned in reverse seniority order, and Reserve Coverage may be used to fill vacancies.
- Dress Code: While the In-Flight Uniform is not required, employees must maintain a professional appearance following Company Dress Code policies.
- Pay: Ground Assistance shifts will be paid at the same daily rate as flight shifts, up to a maximum of 8.5 hours.
- Future Job Postings: All new job postings will include the requirement to work Ground Assistance shifts.
This LOU ensures clear guidelines and fair scheduling for Ground Assistance shifts while maintaining contract protections for our members.
