The Unifor-Porter YHZ Women's Advocate position was negotiated in the first collective agreement between the union and employer in 2025. The position is subject to review and reposting each time a collective agreement is negotiated.

The women’s advocate provides referrals on issues such as sexual assault, domestic violence, suicide prevention, depression, pregnancy, stress, separation and divorce.

The role of the women’s advocate is to listen and provide support, offer information and appropriate resources, and follow up confidentially. The term of office is three years (3), and the successful candidate will report to the President of Unifor Local 2002.

ARTICLE 31: WOMEN’S ADVOCATE

31.01 Women Employees in the bargaining unit facing situations of domestic violence or abuse may confer with a Women’s Advocate who shall direct the Employee towards the appropriate support mechanisms.

31.02 The Company will provide time off for training paid for by the Union, subject to operational requirements.

31.03 Should the Women’s Advocate require time off the job in order to fulfil their duties, the Union will review the request and, if in agreement, will submit a leave of absence request prior to the requested leave for approval by the People and Culture department. Such approval shall not be unreasonably withheld, provided that Company paid time off will not exceed eight (8) hours in any month.
