Porter Airlines Members District 362: Vote Yes for Strike Action

Porter Airlines Members District 362: Vote Yes for Strike Action

January 18, 2019 at 7:25 PM
On January 18, 2019, in a significant show of strength and solidarity, 98% of the members from District # 362-Customer Sales Representatives voted “yes” for strike action.

“It is clear that our members understand what is at stake and the power behind their vote is a clear signal to the Company to stop the delay tactics. This strike mandate will give us leverage at the Bargaining table to negotiate a fair and reasonable collective agreement for our members,” said Euila Leonard President of Local 2002.

The vote doesn’t mean there will be strike action, what this means, is that the Bargaining Committee has the support of the membership should negotiations with the Company fail.

Strike action can be avoided and Unifor’s door remains open if the Company is prepared to make a renewed offer. The main issues affecting our members are wages and benefits.  We will return to the bargaining table on the following dates:
  • District # 362:  February 12 & 13, 2019.

Unifor Local represents more than 105 members at Porter Airlines who are employed as Customer Service Representatives.  The Bargaining Committee would like to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to the members who participated in the strike vote.
