Let me introduce myself: I am
Jad El Bakkar, District Chairperson. Following our last communication, I would like to provide an update regarding the progress of our negotiations with Propair.
A month and a half after our last official meeting, we held new negotiation sessions on January 26 and 27. These days were intense and constructive—necessary steps to advance several important sections of our collective agreement.
From the beginning of these discussions, we encountered difficulties with certain articles. These issues required in-depth exchanges, clarifications, and significant adjustments from both sides. However, it is important to note that despite these challenges, communication remained open, respectful, and professional throughout. These frank exchanges allowed us to better understand each other’s positions and work actively toward concrete solutions.
At this point, we have begun to briefly address monetary issues, though some normative issues remain. This is a voluntary, agreed-upon approach with the employer to move certain files forward more quickly.
I, along with Inès, our two Unifor members, and the Propair representatives, am making every effort to finalize this agreement as quickly as possible while respecting the complexity of the issues. However, coordinating meetings remains a challenge, as we must reconcile the schedules of:
- The pilots;
- The nursing staff;
- Our Unifor team, which is managing several other ongoing negotiations.
Despite these logistical hurdles, the following new meeting dates are currently under consideration:
- February 20
- March 23 and 24
- April 1, 2, and 3
- April 15 and 16
We remain positive regarding the continuation of these negotiations. Thank you for your trust, patience, and continued support. Rest assured that we are working with rigour and commitment to defend your interests.
