On June 12, 2025, the collective agreement was ratified by the Samsic members, and the Company was informed of this ratification, including the effective date of June 12 for all negotiated terms. Following this, the Company and Union have continued communication to discuss specifics regarding union dues, wages, and retroactivity.
The retro union dues deduction was a matter that was only resolved in early September. Advance notice to members about this lump sum deduction was required, but this communication did not occur before the Company's processing, leading to member frustration.
We want to assure you that had the Union been informed of the timing of the deduction, we would have proactively communicated this.
We apologize for this situation and for any inconvenience it caused to our members.
