The Road to a New Agreement
The bargaining process is a multi-step journey designed to ensure your voice is heard and your rights are protected.
Here is the timeline we follow:
- Bargaining Survey: The bargaining committee is currently reviewing a draft of the bargaining survey. Once approved, it will be sent to the membership via Survey Monkey. You will have 7 days to complete and submit it electronically. Our goal is to have all surveys completed before the end of January.
- Proposal Meetings: Once the survey data is collected, the BC will schedule proposal meetings with the membership to discuss our priorities.
- Preparation: The BC will prepare both non-monetary and monetary proposals based on your feedback.
- Scheduling: We will coordinate with the Company to set official bargaining dates.
- Opening Negotiations: Bargaining will begin in person. We will present non-monetary proposals first, which typically take several rounds of discussion.
- Monetary Proposals: Once we have reached an agreement on all (or most) non-monetary items, we will present our monetary proposals for negotiation.
- Tentative Agreement: Once an agreement is reached, it will be presented to the membership at scheduled ratification meetings.
Important Note: As per standard protocol, specific details of the tentative agreement will only be shared during the ratification meetings.
Important Information
- Conciliation: If the parties are unable to reach a tentative agreement, we have the option to file for conciliation with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS).
- Timeline: Bargaining is a lengthy process that requires several months of preparation and subsequent meetings with the Company.
- CBA Status: Although our current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is set to expire on January 25, 2026, please be assured that the existing agreement continues in force until a new one is ratified.
