Unifor Local 2002 is inviting members who identify as part of our BIWOC community to join our equity committee. Your involvement is imperative as we continue to advocate for inclusivity and equality within the workplace and the union.

The Black, Indigenous, Workers of Colour Committee (BIWOC) is a space for union members who have lived experiences of racism and oppression. We are committed to addressing systemic inequities within our workplaces, unions, and society as a whole.

Our mission is to amplify the voices of Black, Indigenous, and Workers of Colour, advocate for policies that promote racial justice, and support each other in the ongoing struggle against oppression. We recognize that dismantling systemic racism requires education, open dialogue, and collective action. Through workshops, discussions, and organizing efforts, we work to create meaningful change both within our union and in our broader communities.

This work is not easy, but it is necessary and important, not only within our workplace, but also within our communities. Only by having difficult and authentic conversations, challenging biases, and standing together in solidarity, can we build a more equitable and just future.

If you identify as part of the BIWOC community, and are interested in joining this committee, please contact us at [email protected] to express your interest in attending our next meeting.

Spanning all across Canada and representing all sectors within the 2002 region, our committee fosters cultural exchange and deeper understanding. By building connections, we help to reduce marginalization, violence, and economic deprivation within our communities.

We acknowledge that this is an ongoing journey, and sometimes we may not get everything right. But we are committed to listening, learning, and growing together. By engaging with our community and amplifying diverse voices, we continue to build a stronger, more unified movement for racial justice.

Join BIWOC and help shape a future of equity, inclusion, and empowerment.
Together, we are stronger.
